County Seat of Chariton County
Organized in 1833.













Located in Price Park, stands the General Sterling Price Monument.
The bronze statue was dedicated in 1915 by the people of Chariton County and the state of Missouri.
   Also located in Price Park sits a somber reminder of the forced removal of over 800 members of the Potawatomi Nation from Indiana to Kansas in 1838. The March is still honored with markers along the trail an reenactments. General Maxwell Taylor a Dalton Mo native also has a monument in his honor. You can see a hand hewn log house which was salvaged from two early Keytsville homes which date from the 1840's. There are several old churches from 1800's and statues in cemetarys in remembrance of past residents.
Keytsville also has a museum with a array of artifacts an memorabilia relating to  the Civil War and keytsville's past. It's best to call ahead to make an appointment for viewing 660 288 3204.

The Wild Goose Capital of the World














Maxie the Goose greets visitors as you come into town. Built in 1976, maxie stands 40 feet above the ground and has a wing span of 61 feet top to tip.  Weighing 3 tons Maxie is an impressive unexpected sight in a rural town of just a few hundred people. 
Started in 1955 Sumner host the wild goose festival on the opening weekend of goose season every year.
Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge is a resting spot for migratory water fowl of all kinds.  But the Branta Canadensis Maxima (Giant Canadian Goose) flock here by the hundreds of thousands.  There is a visitors Center with varying hours based on the season. Call 660 856 3323
